Passport-like Aadhaar centres: Book online appointment for address, mobile number updation

You can take an online appointment to apply for a new Aadhaar card or update details like address and phone number
UIDAI is opening such new Aadhaar centres in 53 cities across India

NEW DELHI : To facilitate easy application and updation of Aadhaar cards, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has started Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) in seven cities of India. Being run in the style of Passport Seva Kendras where an applicant can book an online appointment to avail various services, the Aadhaar Seva Kendras are now functional in Delhi, Chennai, Bhopal, Agra, Hisar, Vijayawada and Chandigarh.

UIDAI said Patna and Guwahati centres would also be made operational this week.

The Aadhaar-issuing body plans to open 114 such centres in 53 cities across India by the end of the year at an estimated project cost of ₹300-400 crore.

Not only can one apply for a new Aadhaar card through these UIDAI-run centres, but you can even update your name, address, mobile number, email id, date of birth, gender and biometric (photo, fingerprints, and iris) data.

Aadhar card applicants and existing holders can take an online appointment at UIDAI's website to book a date and time slot for availing various Aadhaar-related services.

Delhi has two such Aadhaar centres - one at Akshardham Metro Station and another one at Inderlok Metro Station.

UIDAI said that the ASKs have a token system where the resident first gets a token for their Aadhaar related work and then moves to a ‘verifier’ for document checking. Once the verification is completed, the resident moves to ‘cash counter’ for payment of ₹50 (charges for Aadhaar update, if required) and is then assigned an ‘operator counter’ from the 16 operator work stations. The entire token movement is displayed on digital display screens for easy movement and queue management.

These Aadhaar Seva Kendras have a capacity to handle up to 1,000/500 enrolments and update requests each per day and will be open for six days a week including weekends from 9:30 am to 6 pm. The centres will be closed only on Tuesdays and public holidays and will remain open on weekends.

You can take online advance appointment and visit the Adhaar centre at your convenience.

As on May 31, 2019, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had generated a total of 123.82 crore Aadhaar to residents of the country.
