PM Modi to feature in Discovery Channel

The episode will premiere on August 12 at 9:00 p.m

Popular television show ‘Man Vs Wild’, will soon feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Renowned survivalist, adventurer and host of the show Bear Grylls broke the news on Twitter on July 29.

He wrote: “People across 180 countries will get to see the unknown side of PM @narendramodi as he ventures into Indian wilderness to create awareness about animal conservation & environmental change. Catch Man Vs Wild with PM Modi @DiscoveryIN on August 12 @ 9 pm. #PMModionDiscovery.”

The show Man Vs Wild revolves around Bear Grylls and his camera crew navigating through remote islands and forests tackling challenges and giving survival strategies to the viewers.

The episode featuring Mr. Modi was shot at the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand. A release from Discovery adds that the episode will throw light on wildlife conservation and highlight issues related to environmental change.

However, a few Twitterati used this opportunity to add that Mr. Modi was shooting for this show when the Pulwama attack happened on February 14. Also, on February 21, the Congress had sought an explanation from Mr. Modi about the documentary film shoot at the Corbett National Park and asked why he continued the shoot even after the strike had happened.

Speaking about the show, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said: “For years, I have lived among nature, in the mountains and the forests. These years have had a lasting impact on my life. So when I was asked about a special programme focussing on life beyond politics and that too in the midst of nature I was both intrigued and inclined to take part in it. For me, this show presents a great opportunity to showcase to the world India’s rich environmental heritage and stress on the importance of environmental conservation and living in harmony with nature. It was a great experience spending time in the jungle once again, this time with Bear, who is blessed with indefatigable energy and quest to experience nature at its purest.”

The host Bear Grylls said: “It is such a privilege to be taking Prime Minister Modi on an adventure into the Indian wilderness and I feel truly honoured to get to spend time with this remarkable world leader. The wild reminds us that we need each other and that together we are stronger. I am so excited to spend time with the PM and to get to know the man who leads this great nation."

The episode will premiere simultaneously on 12 Discovery channels in India on August 12 at 9:00 p.m. The premiere will also be available in 5 languages and will be showcased in more than 180 countries around the world.

Bear Grylls has hosted prominent celebrities in the past such as former American President Barack Obama, actor Kate Winslet and Tennis star Roger Federer.
