ICJ LIVE: India calls for quick suspension of Kulbhushan Jadhav's capital punishment

New Delhi: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague, Monday, starts the hearing on charged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav's death sentence by a Pakistani military court.

The Hague-based court began the hearing with a preparation about the case.

India`s  legal team, driven by previous Solicitor General Harish Salve, is contending its case. This would be trailed by contentions from the Pakistan group driven by Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf.

Both sides will get a hour and a half each. India may profit a "short extension" past a hour and a half to present its case, the judge said in his introductory statements.

At the hearing, India said Pakistan over and over denied consular access to India and no record of Jadhav's trial procedure was given by Islamabad. All solicitations for consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav fell on "deaf ears", said India.

"Human rights which are dealt with as `basics` have been tossed to the twist by Pakistan," included India.

India additionally called for quick suspension of Jadhav's sentence and blamed Pakistan for damaging Vienna Convention of consular get to.

India moved the ICJ a week ago to spare Jadhav after Pakistan denied consular access regardless of 16 solicitations.

Pakistan has said the Indian move to approach ICJ was an endeavor to redirect consideration from "state-supported fear based oppression in Pakistan" and that it was breaking down the ICJ's power in the matter.
