Do You Know The Difference Between Lemon And Lime

Both the lemon and lime belong in the citrus family, and they look a lot alike, but they are very different from one another. The scientific name for lime is Citrus Aurantifolia and for the lemon is Citrus Lemon. First they are different in their sizes, limes are noticeably smaller than the lemons. Also they taste very different, limes have a sweet or bitter taste, while on the other hand the lemons have a sour taste!
Limes have a round shape, while the lemons have an oval shape, but however there are some limes that are having an oval shape as well. Both of these fruits are rich sources of vitamin C, but the lemons contain twice the amount of vitamin C, than the limes.
The average sized lime contains about 30 mg of vitamin C, while the average sized lemon contains about 53 mg. Also lemons contain more potassium and folate, but the limes contain a lot more vitamin A than lemons.
Both of these fruits have powerful nutrients inside them, and they are both rich in vitamin A and vitamin C, also containing big amounts of flavonoid, potassium, folate and powerful antioxidants, and they have shown their abilities to prevent from cancer as well.
The fruits also contain some limonoids that are able to fight against carcinogenic compounds and cells. Both of them are alkalizing by nature, which means they are effective in removing toxins and acids from our body.
Inflammation and more health complications may occur due to toxic accumulation in our body, there might be a development of a heart disease or type 2 diabetes.
In general both of these fruits are very rich in nutrients and health properties that are highly beneficial for us and our overall health. In order to maintain your overall health many health experts have recommended to include both lemons and limes in your everyday diet.
