The much-awaited NTR biopic has been raising a lot of anticipation and has already created a big buzz on social media. The makers of the film shared the new title and released date on Twitter with a caption: “The story of a man who defined the word protagonist n the Telugu Cinema’s magnificent.”
It has since then been confirmed that actress Rakul Preet Singh will be essaying the role of Sridevi in the film. The actress is pretty stoked as this would be the first time someone will essay the role of the first female superstar of the country on big screen.
In a recent interview, she had stated that it would be very challenging to essay the role of the late actress and she is and will always be a legend. Rakul in the interview with the Times Of India, admitted being a fan of the actress and hopes that she does justice. She said that the makers have full faith in her and hopefully, she can live up to their expectations.
She also shared how she has been prepping for the film by watching various film of the actress. Rakul Preet will be doing a series of look tests to get the part right. She is also planning to meet a couple of people who are associated with her.
Talking about the film she added, "I am really excited about the project and I know all eyes will be on me because for the first time someone is going to play Srideviji in a film.”
Vidya Balan will essay the role of Telugu superstar and former CM of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao’s wife Basavatarakam. Rana Daggubati will play the role of former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
The biopic will be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi since NTR was a popular figure across India in films and political circles. The film is slated to release on January 9, 2019.
