Army officer Umar Fayaz kidnapping, shot dead in Kashmir's Shopian district
Srinagar: An Army officer was on Wednesday discovered killed in south Kashmir, police sources said.
The body of the Lieutenant rank officer was found with slug wounds in Hermain region of the Shopian locale, they said.
Umar Fayaz was an inhabitant of Kulgam locale and had joined Army six months back.
Police said the officer had gone to Shopian to go to the marriage ceremony of a relative.
News office ANI has referred to reports as saying that he was abducted by terrorists yesterday.
An Army official here said they have gotten an information and are confirming the conditions in which the officer was discovered dead.
A consultative was before issued by the state police asking its personnel not visit ancestral homes, particularly in south Kashmir territories till it was pulled back.
There has been a spike in aggressor exercises in many locales of south Kashmir including, Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag, and Kulgam.
