Australia have added a young member, Archie Schiller to their squad for the third Test of the series against India. He had earlier practised with the team ahead of the 1st Test in Adelaide.
Ahead of the Boxing Day Test against India that starts on December 26, Australia have added seven-year-old leg-spinner Archie Schiller to their squad as the 15th member of the team. Schiller had earlier practised with the members of the Australian cricket team ahead of the 1st Test in Adelaide and it was already confirmed that the leggie will be part of the team for the third Test. The news was confirmed by Aussie skipper Tim Paine at BUPA Family Day at Yarra Park.
Schiller was informed about his inclusion in the team in the month of October when Australian team was in UAE, facing Pakistan. The leggie had then told Justin Langer, Australia's head coach, that he would get Virat Kohli out. In a talk with Cricket.com.au, it was also revealed that Archie wants to captain Australia.
Meanwhile, the series between India and Australia is level at 1-1 with both the teams winning a game each. The series kicked off with India delivering the first blow as the visiting team won the first Test by a margin of 31 runs. Batting first, Virat Kohli and co-scored 250 runs in reply to Australia were dismissed on 235. India scored 307 runs in the second innings, asking the hosts to chase down a target of 323 in the final innings of the game, which they failed to chase.
In the second game, Australia batted first and posted a total of 326 in reply to which India scored 283. Australia put up 243 runs in the third innings of the game, asking India to chase 287. After a poor run from openers and middle-order, India were bowled out on 140, thus losing the game.
The third and the penultimate Test is sort of must-win for both the teams as the losing team will also lose the chance to win the series from that point.
