Check out this Jeep Wrangler Rubicon-inspired modified Mahindra Thar

The Mahindra Thar has been a favourite amongst car customizers. Thanks to its clean design that can find its roots at the iconic Jeep, the Thar has gone under the scalpel of every car customizer worth his salt. We have seen some really amazing Thar-based modifications, but this modified Mahindra Thar takes the cake for its Jeep Wrangler Rubicon-like looks. This modification is the work of Jaipur-based Autostyle Garage.

Here is a well-shot video that shows this modified Thar in all its glory. Up front, you get a new grille that looks too much like the one on the Rubicon. You also get the Rubicon’s bumper and the quintessential Jeep badge. Even the doors look a lot like the ones on the original Rubicon. The side profile also offers new mirrors and cladding on the wheel arches.

This modified Thar gets custom wheels shod with meatier rubber. This Thar’s rear-end also has a striking resemblance to the three-door Wrangler. Overall, this modified Mahindra Thar looks a lot like the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and can easily pass off as the original model to an untrained eye. Even those with an eye for detail will appreciate the transformation this Thar has undergone.

It’s now known if this Thar-based Wrangler Rubicon carries any performance upgrades. What’s known, however, is that it’s powered by a 2.5-litre engine that outputs a maximum power of 63 bhp along with a peak torque of 183 Nm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It also has a 2-speed reduction transfer case in the 4WD variant.

The Wrangler Rubicon, on the other hand, is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine that offers as much as 205 bhp of maximum power along with a peak torque of 325 Nm. The Wrangler Rubicon also gets Command-Trac and Rock-Trac transfer cases, electric axle lockers, and an electronic-disconnecting front sway bar. While the Wrangler Rubicon is much more powerful than this replica, we give full marks to the customizers for successfully making this Mahindra Thar look a lot like the iconic American lifestyle SUV.
