This is the OnePlus 8 Pro: No pop-up camera, 120Hz display and curved edges, all spotted in real world

A prototype OnePlus 8 Pro has been spotted in the wild, flaunting its 120Hz display and a punch-hole cutout in the display.

A leaked OnePlus prototype device shows the 120Hz display in action.
OnePlus will let users choose between 60, 90 and 120Hz refresh rate options.
The OnePlus 8 Pro is loosing its pop-up camera in favour of a cutout for the selfie camera.

The Internet is going wild over Samsung's Galaxy S20 series of phones but once that launches on February 11, the next big phone to watch out for will be the OnePlus 8 series. This year, OnePlus is speculated to launch three new models in the OnePlus 8 series, with the most affordable one being aimed to put OnePlus back in the sub-Rs 30,000 segment. However, the Pro variant is going to play it with the big boys this year and thanks to a new leak, we now know what we will get to see in a couple of months.

Courtesy of True-Tech, a prototype OnePlus device has been spotted in the wild and so far, it seems that this could either be the OnePlus 8 or the OnePlus 8 Pro. The device looks identical to the outgoing OnePlus 7T Pro from the front but with one big difference in its appearance- there's now a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera in the top-left corner. Yes, the pop-up camera has bid goodbye this year.

The device appears to have the same footprint as the OnePlus 7T Pro, complete with thin bezels and curved edges on the side. There's a single punch-hole cutout for the front camera that's small enough to sit in the notification bar. The volume buttons and the Alert Slider positions remain unchanged.

The display shows the Settings page where users can choose the refresh rate of the display. Unlike the OnePlus 7T Pro, this handset features three refresh rate options, with the highest one being 120Hz. OnePlus has already confirmed that it will use its 120Hz refresh rate display this year on an upcoming smartphone. Chances are that OnePlus will reserve this panel for the premium OnePlus 8 Pro. Users will be able to choose 90Hz or even 60Hz, if they feel like preserving battery life.

Sadly, the leak doesn't show any other angle of the device and we only left with the renders released a couple of months ago. The 120Hz display will be one of the biggest draws of the OnePlus 8 Pro but it won't be exclusive to OnePlus this year. Samsung is rumoured to use the 120Hz panel for its Galaxy S20 series phones while Xiaomi is already offering a 120Hz LCD display with its Redmi K30 in China.
