Wedding season: Make your bridal mehndi darker and long lasting

Mehndi is a form of body art and is traced back to Ancient India. The decorative designs are usually made on hands and feet, while many even use henna on their shoulders. It is a very popular tradition for Indian weddings and even festivals like Karva Chauth, Teej and Diwali. When it comes to wedding mehndi, the colour of bride's mehndi is often related to couple's love. If you're getting married this wedding season and want your henna colour's to pop, we've got the right tips for you:

Follow these easy steps and make your bridal mehndi darker and last longer:

- Always clean your hands and feet before getting the mehndi applied. Once all the dirt and grime is removed, the
mehndi paste will be able to get absorbed properly.

- Keep the mehndi on for a couple of hours. 10-12 hours of stay can turn the colour darker. If you have the
wedding ceremony at night, you can sleep with the mehndi on and wash it off the next morning.

- Apply lemon water and sugar mixture to your mehndi design once dry. Boil some water and mix sugar and add a
few drops of lemon. However, don't overdo this step as too much of this mixture can ruin the design.

- You can also try the clove 'bhaap' trick. On a pan, heat a few cloves and move your hands around the smoke of
the cloves, which can make the colour darker. You can do this trick with the lemon mixture on your palms.

- Don't wash off the design with soap, as it can fade the mehndi. Instead, remove it with a spoon or butter knife.
Make sure you don't rub your hands, as it can spoil the design. Also, try to avoid contact with water for a couple
  of hours.

- One of the most common trick to make the colour darker is to apply a balm to the design. You should apply the
  balm after removing the mehndi.

- The best way to dry the mehndi is in a natural way. Avoid heaters and especially a blow dryer to dry the design.

- You can apply mehndi 1-2 days before the main occasion, as that's the time when the colour shows the most.

- If you want your mehndi to last longer, don't go for waxing, manicure or pedicure. All these can strip off the colour
  and fade your mehndi.

  Thought of the Day

Just as the sun gently moves the darkness of night out each morning, we too can move from darkness to light each day. Wake up to new life each day, freeing ourself from all things that do not serve us. Let them drift away with the night & fill that space with new hope each morning..Good Morning
