Did you promise yourself that you’ll quit alcohol when the year started? But, you’ve obviously failed miserably. Has booze become like that one friend whose bad influence you overlook ‘cos you know you’ll have a good time? Come Friday night and you and that glass make a cosy twosome again.
Can’t see the point in giving it all up? Here is a list of things that’ll make you realise that it may be time to put the brakes on the booze.
Here is a list of things that you might encounter if you stop drinking alcohol:
1. You’ll notice how you’ve started looking better. The liver breaks down alcohol and releases a toxic by-product called acetaldehyde that is responsible for drying out your skin and dehydrates other body tissues. You’ll also notice less blackheads and whiteheads.
2. A University of North Carolina School of Medicine study revealed that drinking can actually rewire the brain. This, in turn, increases anxiety.
3. You end up losing weight because your body is not getting extra alcohol calories.
4. You now know what good sleep is. Alcohol may help you sleep but it doesn’t help you with good sleep.
5. Quitting alcohol improves your sex life as alcohol has been linked to erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, and reduced sensitivity.
6. Staying away from alcohol for long will reverse negative effects on thinking skills, including problem-solving, memory, and attention”
7. You’ll save money. Duh!
