AGRA: Patients and their relatives were allegedly locked up in rooms and corridors of SN Medical College in Agra for nearly 45 minutes ahead of chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit on Saturday morning. The CM had come to the medical facility to meet those injured in rain and thunderstorm earlier this week. According to some patients, the hospital staff threatened them and told them to stay quiet.
Fatehabad-based farmer Virendra Singh said, “My wife is admitted here with a kidney problem. I was happy to know that the CM was coming. I wanted to request him to help me in my wife’s treatment. However, before he was to arrive, two hospital employees came and locked me along with many others in a room. When I told them that I wanted to meet the CM, they said that I will be jailed if I try to do so.”
"My husband has been admitted here for the past few days. I was locked in the corridor for 45 minutes. When I asked why we were being locked, the hospital staff said ‘you will be beaten with sticks if you try to come out’,” said Shivani Mittal.
Another attendant, Pappu Kumar said, “They locked me for more than 30 minutes. My brother-in-law is admitted here. I wanted to inform the CM about the poor medical services here, but was not allowed to so. The staffers behaved badly with us.”
Meanwhile SNMC principal Saroj Singh denied these allegations and said, “No directions to prohibit movement of patients and their caretakers were issued by the administration. Maybe security personnel made some temporary arrangements at their end for the CM’s visit.”
