Key Cabinet decisions: All you need to know

Taking note of the nationwide outrage over the brutal rape and murder of an eight-year-old in Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir and other instances in different parts of the country, the first ordinance approved by the Cabinet permits courts to pronounce death penalty for those convicted of raping children below the age of 12. Here are some of the salient features of the ordinance:
The second ordinance provides for the attachment and confiscation of the properties of economic offenders in a bid to bring back defaulters of huge bank loans who escape abroad to avoid facing criminal prosecution, such as diamond trader Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi.
