New Delhi: The Reserve Bank will on August 25 issue new Rs 200 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of RBI Governor Urjit Patel.
At first, the new Rs 200 notes will be circled by select RBI offices, and a few banks.
"The new section has theme of Sanchi Stupa on the turn around, portraying the nation's social legacy. The base shade of the note is splendid yellow. The note has different outlines, geometric examples lining up with the general shading plan, both at the front-side and turn around," RBI said in an announcement on Thursday.
Presentation of another cash category and configuration is finished keeping in thought different elements like simplicity of exchanges for the normal man, substitution of dirtied banknotes, swelling and the requirement for battling forging.
"To accomplish the ideal arrangement of cash that would limit the quantity of sections while expanding the likelihood of proffering accurate change, particularly at the lower end of divisions, there is a sensible need to present the missing category of Rs 200, which will make the present money framework more effective. Arrangement of the new division, along these lines, would encourage trade, especially for the regular man who manages categories at the lower end," it said.
