NEW DELHI: A Few days after Microsoft's confirmation that Apple iTunes will be coming to its Store in 2018, Google has brought its Chrome browser app in the Windows Store. However, what was surprising was that the search giant packaged the app for Windows 10 that by default opened the Chrome download page.
This means that when a Windows 10 user downloaded the Chrome app onto the device, it opened up the link to download the Chrome app.
Later, as reported by The Verge website, Microsoft removed the Chrome app from the Microsoft Store, saying that it violated their policies. "We have removed the Google Chrome Installer App from Microsoft Store, as it violates our Microsoft Store policies," said the company spokesperson to The Verge. "We welcome Google to build a Microsoft Store browser app compliant with our Microsoft Store policies."
It is said that Google is unlikely to bring a full-fledged app for Windows 10 in the Microsoft Store. This is because the Store apps use HTML and JavaScript engines provided by Microsoft itself. Google, on the other hand, uses its own Blink rendering engine in its Chrome.
On a related note, a few days ago, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 users would have to wait for some more time to get Apple iTunes. "We have been working with Microsoft to deliver the full iTunes experience to our customers and we need a little more time to get it right," said an Apple spokesperson via an emailed statement to ZDNet.
Neither of the two tech giants have confirmed exactly when iTunes will be reaching Microsoft Store. The lack of iTunes from the Microsoft will leave Windows 10 users limited to Store apps.
The delay comes months after Microsoft confirmed during its Build developers conference that Apple iTunes will be coming to the Microsoft Store.
