Trainee IAS officer drowns in swimming pool to save woman officer at a party in Delhi’s Ber Sarai
A 30-year-old learner IAS officer drowned at a swimming pool in Foreign Service Institute in south Delhi's Ber Sarai around midnight on Monday while attempting to spare a female friend from suffocating, Delhi Police said.
Ashish Dahiya was a 2016 bunch IAS learner and a local of Sonepat in Haryana. He and his companions from the IFS and IRS had gathered for a poolside get-together at the institute run by the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday night.
"Onlookers said that a lady trainee slipped into the pool after which a few youthful officers, including Dahiya, attempted to safeguard her. In spite of the fact that the lady was securely hauled out, the gathering saw that Ashish was missing. He was discovered swimming in the pool before long," said Chinmoy Biswal, Additional DCP (South).
He was brought out of the pool and the station restorative officer, Dr Pramyesh Bansal, called. "Endeavors were made to oversee CPR to the perished before he was hurried to Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj. He was announced brought dead at 12.50 am," said the officer.

Bansal said that proof from the spot proposed that the revelers devoured liquor amid the gathering.
The body has been moved to AIIMS for a post-mortem examination. His family has been informed of his passing. A group of senior officers is at the institute to gather prove and to record proclamations of different observers.
