Introduction

It seems that modern artists portray Shiva in blue skin color. Does it mean that Shiva skin color is blue?

Why Lord Shiva is blue?
Mahadev has the most charismatic white aura; therefore, the first thing to notify is that Lord Shiva is not blue.

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम्।
सदा बसन्तं हृदयारबिन्दे भबं भवानीसहितं नमामि।।

The mantra describes that Lord Shiva doesn't have a blue skin color.

We all know that to protect the world from the cosmic poison; Mahadeva drank it which changed Shiva's throat color into blue.

Indeed only Lord Shiva's throat is blue, whereas; Lord Shiva has a white camphor color.

Shiva loves to smear the cremation ground ashes into his body which gives the camphor skin color to Shiva as he is Bhoothnath.
