Which Banana Would You Eat? Your Answer May Have An Effect On Your Health

I think people who don’t like bananas are very rare. Almost there isn’t a person who doesn’t eat banana as part of the breakfast or as a snack, but the real banana lovers go further considering even the ripeness of the banana.  There are some people who love green bananas, while others love their bananas to be overripe and almost brown.

The bananas with their potassium, along with the other vitamins and nutrients are very healthy choice all around. Writer Adda Bjarnadottir, MS for Authority Nutrition, says that they are good for the digestion, for the health of the heart and also can help us to lose some weight. What is really interesting is that the different colors of the banana mean different health benefits. Continue reading and find out what color of the banana would be the most beneficial to your health.

Green Bananas contain resistant starch. According to Jill Corleone, a registered dietitian, this type of starch is more like fiber in our bodies and that can help us to reduce the risk of diabetes and heart diseases, by lowering the levels of blood sugar and blood cholesterol levels. Also, because the bananas in this color are high in fiber, they can help the appetite stay in check and promote weight loss. Furthermore, they are low in glycemic index so that makes them perfect snack for the ones who need to control the blood sugar levels.

Yellow, firm bananas are rich in antioxidants that protect our bodies from various illnesses.  The bananas have more sugar as they are getting older, but besides they have more sugar than the green ones, this kind of bananas also contain dopamine, an antioxidant which can reduce the risks of heart diseases and degenerative diseases. Although the dopamine is usually known that acts as feel-good chemical in the brain, that’s not the case with the dopamine in the banana. The dopamine from the banana acts like strong antioxidant without altering the hormones or the mood.

Yellow bananas with brown spots aren’t as healthy as the younger ones, but they still contain a lot of antioxidants. Researchers from Teikyo University found out that bananas in this color can fight cancer. They have proven that the amount of Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) is much more higher in the spotted bananas than the green ones. According to PubMed, TNF is helping to break down the abnormal cells in the body, namely cancerous tumors. The substance that helps fight cancer also can improve the immune system by pointing the white blood cells in to the inflamed or infected areas.

Brown bananas are the sugariest, but still have high levels of potassium.  Linus Puling Institute notes that foods rich in potassium can help to prevent conditions like osteoporosis. This kind of banana also contains tryptophan, an amino acid found like mood-altering. Tryptophan regulates the moods, so can lower the symptoms of depression, anxiety and also can help us to sleep better. The brown bananas would also be a perfect for the ones with digestive issues because they are very easy to digest. The overripe bananas need to be kept in the refrigerator because they start to lose the nutrients.

No matter the color of the banana they are still super healthy. Most of the people eat bananas in particular color just because of their own preferences not even knowing the benefits of the color.

However, we highly recommend you to consume bananas every day. Just add them in a smoothie, cereal bowl or eat them as a snack. Because of the peel they are protected from pesticides and pollutions. Also the peel makes them perfect to travel with.
