5 Best Car Launches of 2018: From Honda Amaze to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

2018 saw launches of a lot of new cars in the Indian market, from the mass segment hatchbacks to premium segment SUVs, the Indian market has seen it all
 

 
 

The Indian car market is one of the quickest growing market in the world. The manufacturers around the world are launching their products in the growing market to benefit from the fast pace market. While the market received a wide range of cars that include affordable Datsun Go to the high-end models like Skoda Kodiaq and Honda CR-V. Out of numerous launches, which are the best cars that have been launched in the Indian market? Let’s find out.
 
1. Maruti Suzuki Swift
 
The Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched in an all-new avatar in the Indian market earlier this year and it has already become a blockbuster in the market. The Suzuki Swift climbed to the top 5 on the sales chart soon after launch and became the top-selling car for a couple of months too.
 
 
The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift is based on the new HEARTECT platform which has made the vehicle much lighter in weight. It is available in both petrol and diesel engine options and both the engine options get AMT automatic transmission, which is available for the first time with the hatchback. 
 
2. Honda Amaze 
 
Honda launched the all-new, second-generation Amaze in the Indian market earlier this year and the car has become a top-selling car for the manufacturer. The all-new Amaze gets a new platform and looks very sharp. The all-new Amaze gets powered by the same engine options. 
 
There is 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. For the first time ever in the sub Rs. 10 lakh segment, a car has been launched CVT automatic transmission with the diesel engine. The CVT automatic transmission is also available with the petrol version of the Honda Amaze. 
 
3. Hyundai Santro 
 
 
The Santro is one of the biggest car launches of the 2018 year. The all-new hatchback is based on the discontinued i10 platform and gets the same 1.1-litre petrol engine too. The tall-boy design of the Hyundai Santro has made it quite popular in the market and it has already gained as much as 15,000 bookings since the price announcement. 
 
Hyundai has also introduced the AMT automatic transmission with the all-new Santro for the first time in the Indian market. The AMT automatic version is extremely popular in the Santro and gets a share chunk of bookings. 

 
 

4. Mahindra Marazzo 
 
 
Mahindra has launched the all-new Marazzo earlier this year to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Marazzo has been designed and developed globally and also gets design inputs from the Mahindra’s subsidiary Pininfarina. 
 
The 7-seater MPV gets a number of unique features like transverse engine in front-wheel drive format, horizontal AC mounted for the rear passengers, aircraft-inspired handbrake lever and more. The Marazzo is the quietest vehicle in the segment and is powered by an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine. It is yet to get an automatic transmission but the vehicle has already gained quite a popularity in the market. 
 
5. Maruti Suzuki all-new Ertiga 
 
 
Maruti Suzuki has launched the much-awaited all-new Ertiga in the Indian market recently. It gets the new HEARTECT platform making it much lighter than the outgoing version. The all-new Ertiga has also grown in size and has become roomier. 
 
Maruti has put the all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine in the Ertiga that was introduced with the Maruti Ciaz earlier. The diesel variants remain powered by the same 1.3-litre Multijet, four-cylinder engine. The petrol Ertiga also gets a 4-speed automatic transmission.
