WATCH: Mohammad Shahzad slams record-breaking 74 runs off 16 balls, takes T10 League 2018 by a storm

T10 League 2018: Rajputs batsman Mohammad Shahzad was on fire against Sindhis as he slammed a 16-ball 74 laced with eight sixes and six boundaries to record fastest fifty in T10 format.

It was literally a run-scoring feast as Afghanistan opener Mohammad Shahzad ripped apart the Sindhi bowling attack in the opening encounter of the T10 League 2018. In what can be termed as one of the most destructive innings in the history of cricket, Shahzad slammed 74 runs off just 16 deliveries to power his side to a clinical ten-wicket victory while creating the record for fastest fifty in the 10-over format.

En-route his surreal 74-run knock, Shahzad completed his half-century off just 12 balls and showcased a remarkable display of brute hitting. He once again proved why he is rated as one of the fiercest hitters of the cricket balls as Rajputs chased down the target of 95 runs in just 4 overs. Yes, 95 runs in just 4 overs. It was an absolutely stunning knock from the Afghan batsman who smashed eight sixes during his innings and became the first player to do so in the shortest format of the game.

Batting first, Shane Watson's Sindhis posted a challenging 94/6 in 10 overs with the help of 20-ball 42 from the skipper. While the Sindhis could easily have piled up a lot more runs on board, none of their batsmen except Watson, managed to reach double-figure mark. Munaf Patel was the best bowler for the Rajputs as he took 20/3 in his two overs.

While everyone was expecting it to be a tight chase, Shahzad made it a one-sided affair with an incredible inning, that will go down as one of the best-ever knocks by the Afghan opener. His 16-ball 74 was laced with six fours and eight sixes as the crowd was left amazed with his batting prowess.

Watch video:

Rajputs chased down the target of 95 runs in just 4 overs with Brendon McCullum and Shahzad posting an opening stand of 96 runs. McCullum scored 21 off just 8 deliveries and was a quiet spectator to Shahzad's brilliance on the other end. 74 runs, 16 balls, six fours, eight sixes, only two singles and no dot balls were Shahzad's incredible numbers at the end of the game.
