Man Takes Mother On 48,100-Km-Long Pilgrimage On 20-YO Scooter, Anand Mahindra Offers Him A Car

Being a mother is a tough task, there are a lot of things she has to think about - home, work (if she is a working mother), kids and the list never ends! But do you think we appreciate her enough for handling all these things and never complaining about anything?

Recently, this man from Mysuru tried to do his bit to make his mother happy. He decided to take her on a pilgrimage covering a distance of 48,100 kilometres on a Bajaj Chetak scooter. According to a video shared by Manoj Kumar, CEO of Naandi Foundation, 39-year-old D Krishna Kumar quit his job to travel with his mother on his 20-year-old scooter. Kumar’s mother, Choodarathna, who lives alone in Mysuru, Karnataka, told him that she wanted to see Hampi.

"In the joint family system, my mother's role was confined to the kitchen until the death of my father," Kumar told New Indian Express. "I decided that my mother deserves not only quality time from her only son, but also a dignified life for all the sacrifices she has made."

According to Orissa Post, Kumar has been travelling with his mother for seven months, ever since he quit his job last January. The two have been to quite a few holy places in India.

The story of Kumar, also touched the heart of the Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, Anand Mahindra, who took his story to Twitter and offered Kumar a car. He wrote, 'A beautiful story. About the love for a mother but also about the love for a country..." wrote Mr Mahindra. "If you can connect him to me, I'd like to personally gift him a Mahindra KUV 100 NXT so he can drive his mother in a car on their next journey'.
