Jio Gigafiber impact: Airtel cuts prices; see if you can benefit

At Airtel, you can save up to 15% in 6- month and up to 20% on 1-year broadband plans.

 
 

The Mukesh Ambani backed Reliance Jio continues to give sleepless nights to telecom giant Bharti Airtel. In its 41st AGM meet, parent Reliance Industries has announced launch of Reliance Jio Gigafiber, which was soon reacted to by Airtel as the company has reduced prices of entire broadband bouquet. It needs to be noted that, the benefits provided by Airtel in their broad plans differs periodically. At Airtel, you can save up to 15% in 6- month and up to 20% on 1-year broadband plans.
 
Let’s have a look at Airtel’s revised broadband plan.
 
Rs 799
 
Rs 799 monthly rental gives unlimited local and STD calls. Under this plan broadband data of massive 100GB data at a speed of 40 Mbps is offered. Bonus data of 500GB is also given up till October 31, 2018. It needs to be noted that, there is no data rollover
and Amazon Prime subscription service available in this.
 
For one month pack, a customer will pay up to Rs 799 only, however, for 6 months the prices are slashed down by 15% to Rs 678 and by 20% to Rs 639 price for 12 months.
 
One can avail this pack at one-time payment of Rs 4,070 for entire six months and Rs 7,670 for entire 12 months.
 
 
Rs 999
 
Under this monthly rental broadband plan unlimited local and STD calls are given along with 250GB data at a speed of 100 Mbps. However, Airtel is offering bonus data up to 1000GB till October 31, 2018. Also there is data roll over and Amazon subscription available under this offer.
 
For six months, the monthly rental of this pack has been reduced to Rs 848 which is a 15% discount and 20% discount is given for 12 months period at Rs 799. To purchase this pack, one can make one-time payment of Rs 5,090 for six months and Rs 9,590 for 12 months.
 
Rs 1299
 
This monthly rental plan gives similar offers like Rs 999 monthly rental one except offering a massive data of 500GB at a speed of 100 Mbps.
 
This rental plan has a 15% off on six months period and is being offered at Rs 1,103, whereas the 12 months period has 20% off with monthly rate of 1,039.
 
To make one-time payment, a customer can purchase this pack for Rs 6,620 for six months period and Rs 12,470 for 12 months.
 
 
 

 
 

Rs 1999
 
This monthly rental plan has similar offers like the above two Rs 999 and Rs 1299. The only difference is that under Rs 1999 a customer gets unlimited data at a speed of 100 Mbps. Now this plan has been reduced to Rs 1,698 for one month rent, if a customer opts for six months period. If a customer plans to avail this pack for 12 months, then their monthly rental has been reduced to Rs 1,599.
 
A one-time payment is available for six months and 12 months period at Rs 10,190 and Rs 19,190.
 
Rs 2,199
 
This monthly rental plan has same unlimited calls, bonus data, data roll over and Amazon subscription benefit like above mentioned plans.
 
But for availing this pack for a month, a customer gets 1200GB data at a whopping speed of 300 Mbps.
 
Now for six months time, a customer can pay monthly rent to Rs 1,868, whereas for 12 months period, a customer will pay even lower rate of Rs 1,759.
 
There is also one-time payment option of Rs 11,210 and Rs 21,110 available for six months and 12 months period respectively.
 
A one-time settlement payment means, a customer will not have to pay monthly rent.
 
 
Registration
 
To avail the above mentioned offer one can even do it online at official website of Airtel. If you are a customer already then, you will need to provide your mobile number or service ID along with one-time password.
 
In case if you are new, then you can register on Airtel website first in order to avail the benefit.
 
For registration there is same procedure like login one. Just need to provide your Airtel mobile number.
 
Terms and Conditions
 
The Airtel broadband ARP Plan is being provided by Airtel broadband to any customer who wish to avail Airtel’s DSL services.The payment for the plan is an upfront payment and will not be refunded incase the customer cancels the connection before the maturity of the agreed tenure.
 
The discount mentioned in the plan has been rounded off to the nearest value. The Offer is valid only in India and redeemable only upon taking fresh subscriptions to Airtel’s select DSL broadband rental plans in accordance with the present terms and conditions.
 
This Offer is not valid for special, commercial or enterprise plans.
 
This Offer cannot be combined with any other offer provided by Airtel.
 
In order for a new customer to avail the plan, the eligible customer must: visit the page www.airtel.in/broadband and select base plan, enter mobile number and address to raise request for new broadband connection or contact customer care to apply for subscription to Airtel Broadband services.
 
The extent of applicability of the said Plan, the usage by an individual customer and the entitlement of the Free Subscription Internet is subject to the network feasibility in the area of residence of the interested customer. The network feasibility of the specific area shall be communicated to the customer at the time of sale.
 
Reliance Jio
 
Starting from August 15th, a customer can start registering interest for JioGigaFiber through both MyJio and Jio.com.
 
JIO GIGAFIBER will be the largest greenfield fixed-line broadband rollout anywhere in the world, with rollout happening in 1,100 cities of India simultaneously.
 
However, there is not much clarity mentioned in Jio Gigafiber which is set to come. Right now it is being run as beta trials in tens of thousands of homes.
