Samsung commences mass production of System-on-Chip with 10nm FinFET tech

Samsung announced today that it has started mass producing System-on-Chip (SoC) products with 10nm FinFET technology, which the South Korean company says is an industry-first.
"The enterprise’s first mass manufacturing of 10nm FinFET technology demonstrates our leadership in advanced manner generation," said Jong Shik Yoon, government vice president, Head of Foundry enterprise at Samsung Electronics. "we will maintain our efforts to innovate scaling technology and provide differentiated overall answers to our clients."
the new 10nm FinFET procedure (10LPE) used by the tech massive adopts a complicated 3-d transistor shape, and when compared to the agency's 14nm predecessor, there are enhancements in each manner era and layout enablement.
This permits "as much as 30-percentage increase in vicinity efficiency with 27-percent higher performance or 40-percent decrease electricity intake," Samsung stated in a press launch.
The organization also stated that SoCs with the new 10nm system will launch in early 2017, while its 2nd-gen 10nm process (10LPP) with overall performance boost is focused for mass production in H2 2017.
