WhatsApp is on a spree to ban users, here

WhatsApp appears to be getting stricter on how its platform is used. According to reports, the instant messaging app is permanently banning users who are part of groups with malicious or suspicious names. According to a report in GizChina, "Over the past few weeks, there have been reports of users getting banned from WhatsApp permanently."

As per Reddit user Mowe11, "I was permanent banned from Whatsapp because one guy changed the university's name group to "Childs Pornography" and now the entire group is banned." He added that when he tried to contact WhatsApp support, he received automatic response saying that they violated WhatsApp's terms of use.

As per WABetaInfo, the website that tracks leaks and upcoming features of WhatsApp, "It seems like it's easy to be banned from WhatsApp, using a suspicious name as group subject.

In this case the group subject did not reflect with the content of the group (probably it was changed for joking) and the entire group was immediately banned."

Another Reddit user going by the name FranciscoAlfaro, claims that WhatsApp banned all the members of his school group. The banned group had about 100 members and all the user accounts part of that group have been permanently banned.

Some WhatsApp users on microblogging website Twitter too have claimed that they have been banned permanently on WhatsApp.

However, users need not worry that they may face ban after being randomly added to WhatsApp Groups with 'malicious' names without their knowledge. As WABeta says, "WhatsApp knows that you were added to a spam group,..." This issue will be faced only when when a users is already in a group from a long time. "Using an old group with some participants into? With new groups I don't think it immediately works," says another WABeta tweet.
