Woman Sounds Just Like Amazon Alexa: Her Voice Is Same As The Indian Version Of Alexa

By now, you surely would have come across at least one smart voice assistant -- it could either be Google Assistant in your phone, Apple iPhone's Siri or Amazon’s Alexa. And in case you have a smart speaker with either one of them, you would surely know how convenient it can truly make your life indoors.

Alexa especially is the most dynamic and compatible -- from LED lights to electronic appliances, you can control them all, by just using just your voice, and every time you shout out ‘Alexa’ and ask her to do something, you’re responded in a soft, somewhat electronic, yet not-so-irritating voice that by now you would have gotten used to.

But have you ever wondered who's the face behind that voice? Well, we’ve now come across someone who sounds just like the Indian-version of Alexa, and it’s truly mindblowing, to say the least.

Meet Supriya Kapoor

We stumbled upon Supriya Kapoor on an Instagram story where she is responding to a fellow RJ’s questions in the voice of Alexa and in all instances she sounds just like the synthetic voice produced by the smart assistant.

Supriya Kapoor has been a voice artist for a while and has voiced advertisements for several brands as well as shows in the past. Currently, she is a radio jockey at 104.8 Ishq FM in New Delhi since April 2019.

She very skillfully also intonates the way Alexa would normally do, when responding to our requests and queries. It just sounds so friggin similar, making us think if she really was the voice behind Alexa. But she isn’t.

How are artificial assistant voices generated?

At least once you would have wondered who actually is the face behind this human-cyborg like voice.

Apparently, this voice is actually generated artificially using AI where recorded voices of words and sounds are spliced and stitched together to form words, sentences while offering the right kind of intonation and expression through the voice to make it sound natural.

All this while it is also trying to recognise words from your voice, accent and generate accurate results or do a certain activity, in a matter of seconds, making anyone marvel at the power of AI.

Even though Apple’s Siri had been voiced by an artist by the name of Susan Bennett, a similar technique was used to form sentences instantly.
