7 TV Actors Who Went Onto Become Big Bollywood Celebrities Prove No Opportunity Is Too Small

"From humble beginnings come great things," wrote an anonymous poet.

This beautiful line especially holds true for some of our favourite Bollywood celebrities who are known and respected for their talent and skill in the Indian Film industry. Not everyone who has made it big in Bollywood was born in a film dynasty or was raised with a silver spoon. Some truly worked their way to the top!

Below, you'll discover a list of those superstars who started small and humble by acting in television shows and built an irreplaceable place for themselves in the industry and our hearts by sheer hard work.

1. Irrfan

Late actor Irrfan whose exceptional acting talent didn't just keep him bound to Bollywood but the world is the perfect example of someone who had humble beginnings and went onto win the world. While counting his success, a lot of people forget how he actually started his illustrious acting career via short roles in TV shows. He featured in television serials like Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, Banegi Apni Baat, and Chandrakanta. Irrfan worked hard and made his way straight to our hearts, where he will live forever.

2. Shah Rukh Khan

Isn't it remarkable that the king of Bollywood made his acting debut on the small screen? Shah Rukh Khan was first seen in a TV show called Fauji in 1988. He acted n four more TV shows- Circus (1989), Ummeed (1989), and Wagle Ki Duniya (1988-’90) before landing a small gig in a film titled, In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones (1989).  The rest, as they say, is history!

3. Ayushmann Khurrana

A multi-talented actor, before making one of the best debuts the audiences have ever seen, in Vicky Donor back in 2012, Ayushmann Khurrana had given everything a try. From being a radio-jockey artist to winning the reality show Roadies and then going onto becoming a supremely successful television host. For those wanting to become an actor, Ayushmann's journey will inspire you to never say no and just start.

4. Vidya Balan

One of our all-time favourite shows, Hum Paanch not only gifted us some iconic dialogues and childhood memories but also Vidya Balan who acted in the show. A string of small TV appearances later, the actress made her debut in one of the biggest hits of Indian Cinema, Parineeta in 2005. Ever since Vidya Balan has delivered one brilliant performance after the other starting with Kahaani to Dirty Picture. The actress has also won the coveted National Award and a Padma Shri too for her exceptional acting skills.

5. Sushant Singh Rajput

Sushant Singh Rajput was not just a known face in the television industry but a highly beloved one too. His portrayal as Manav in the hit television show, Pavitra Rishta truly showcased his acting prowess. Rajput got his big Bollywood debut with critical and commercial success, Kai Po Che. Rajput didn't stop just there. He went onto deliver mega-hit films like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story too.

6. Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam got her big debut into the world of films opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Vicky Donor. Prior to her impressive debut, Yami Gautam has featured in a plethora of advertisements as well as a television serial Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam on Colors.

7. R. Madhavan

Giving humble beginnings a whole new meaning is film actor R. Madhavan who started his career with guest appearances in regional television shows. He then appeared in Zee TV prime-time soap opera Banegi Apni Baat in 1996. Madhavan made it big in Bollywood after his role in Rehna Hai Tere Pyaar Mein.
