New Delhi: MDH owner Mahashay Dharampal Gulati passed away at the age of 99 at a hospital in the national capital on Sunday, claimed media said.

The company began as a small shop in Pakistan's Sialkot, which was set up by his father before partition. However, after 1947, the family moved to the national capital.
According to popular stories, the MDH owner rented a tonga after arriving in Delhi and started ferrying travelers from Connaught Place to Karol Bagh. Forced into poverty, there were days Dharampal had no passengers. Some even hurled abuses at him.
