WATCH: Deepika Padukone breaks down, Shah Rukh Khan wipes away her tears

Deepika Padukone got emotional when Shah Rukh Khan read out a letter from her mother.

'King Of Romance' Shah Rukh Khan can sweep any woman off her feet with his charm. But if he can bring a smile to their face, he can also make them cry. Just ask Deepika Padukone.

Deepika's emotions got the better of her in the middle of a special interview with Shah Rukh, called Baatein With The Baadshah, recently. Deepika broke down after her Happy New Year co-star started reading out a letter written by her mother, Ujjala Padukone, in which she expresses her pride in Deepika's achievements and the fact that she has still not lost the purity of her heart.

"Humare liye tum koi star nahi, balki humesha humari pyaari Deepika hi rahogi (You are not a star in our eyes; you will always be our dear Deepika)," the letter said.

Shah Rukh rushed to comfort the crying Deepika and wiped away her tears.

On the work front, Deepika's upcoming film Padmavati is mired in controversy for its alleged creative liberties at the expense of Rajput women's honour. Shah Rukh, on the other hand, is busy shooting for Aanand L Rai's film in which he plays a dwarf.
