Shopping around for the best energy deal in Luxembourg
Wednesday, November 9, 2016 IST
357 households in Luxembourg changed energy providers in 2015, representing 0.2% of the volume of energy consumed and 0.1% of the market.
The findings were published by energy watchdog the Luxembourg Institute of Regulation (ILR) in its latest report.
It credited the low change rate to the lack of awareness among consumers that they can shop around for a better rate on electricity and natural gas. An interactive, online calculator is available online free of charge to assist consumers in finding the best deal.
The body also revealed that the volume of sustainable energy produced in Luxembourg grew by 10% in 2015, to 430GWh. It means that 6.75% of energy used by the country is sustainable.
