The Woman Behind Deepika Padukone's Cleavage Controversy To Pay A Heavy Price?

The Woman Behind Deepika Padukone

Priya Gupta has no clue about it and does not want to comment anything on this.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India s (BCCI) acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary has refused to sign the appointment order of the Board s new General Manager (Marketing) Priya Gupta citing an article the latter had written while she was working with a publication. Choudhary questioned CoA s move to appoint new General Manager (marketing) and Gupta s lack of experience in handling such a high-profile job.

For the uninitiated, Gupta, who used to work with The Times of India, had written an article in 2014 where she slut-shamed Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. The daily had tweeted a Deepika Padukone video with the caption: OMG! Deepika Padukone s cleavage show . Soon after this tweet, Deepika too took to her micro-blogging site to give a befitting reply. Deepika tweeted, “YES! I am a Woman. I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??”

Well, this did not stop here. Gupta, defending The Times of India in an article (with a headline “Dear Deepika, our point of view “), wrote, “Dear Deepika, our point of view where she wrote: Deepika, just for the record, we do not zoom into a woman s vagina or show her nipples What about all the times, and there have been many, when you have flaunted your body off screen while dancing on stage, posing for magazine covers, or doing photo ops at movie promotional functions? What role do you play there? So why the hypocrisy?”

Questioning the BCCI s selection process, Choudhary wrote an e-mail to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri where he wrote, “A simple search on the internet, revealed the following stories mentioning the candidate selected for the post we are presently concerned with, regarding an article that the person authored, the content of which is for everyone to see.” However, when Gupta was asked about Choudhary s objections, Gupta, in a statement to The Indian Express, said, “I really have no clue about it and I don t want to comment anything on it.”
