New Delhi: Despite being denied consent by the Uttar Pradesh government, Congress VP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday embarked to visit the violence-hit villages of Saharanpur area, where caste conflict has left two dead and scores injured.
UP Congress chief Raj Babbar and Congress pioneer Ghulam Nabi Azad are additionally going with him.
He is going by street after his chopper was denied landing consent by the state administration taking after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's request to not permit political pioneers from going by Saharanpur.
The Congress party had on Thursday said Adityanath was no one to prevent Rahul Gandhi from going by Saharanpur.
"The consent has been denied in light of the state strategy of keeping the area beyond the field of play for pioneers until the circumstance comes back to ordinary," Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order Aditya Mishra had illuminated yesterday.
Sources said that as the brutality broke out not long after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) boss Mayawati's visit, the Chief Minister's Office requested that region authorities not concede any authorization to political pioneers to visit the region in future.
Prior, previous union pastor Kumari Shailja and senior Congress pioneer PL Punia were denied consent to visit Saharanpur.
