Himesh Reshammiya marries actor Sonia Kapoor, shares photos from midnight wedding

“Togetherness is bliss!”
This is how music composer-actor Himesh Reshammiya shared his emotions on his wedding with actor Sonia Kapoor on Friday. Himesh and Sonia tied the knot at his residence in Mumbai on Friday night; this is the second marriage of the composer. Sonia is a television actor and has starred in shows such as Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, Jugni Chali Jalandhar, Yes Boss and Remix.
Himesh had earlier said that with the muhurat of the wedding at 1.30 am, he has not invited any of his friends from the fraternity to the wedding. The wedding was a close-knit affair with just the parents of the couple and Himesh’s son from his first marriage, Swayam, present on the occasion.
Himesh had told Mid-Day on Friday, “The marriage ceremony will be held at my home tonight. We plan to throw a party for our friends in the film fraternity later. Since tonight offers an auspicious mahurat, we decided to go ahead. We have been together for a long time, so marriage was a natural progression. It feels wonderful to formalise our relationship.”
Earlier, the couple also issued an official statement, “Himesh Reshammiya will tie the knot with long-time girlfriend Sonia Kapoor. A simple ceremony will be held on the night of May 11 at his residence. The ceremony will be a close knit affair with just close family and friends. Himesh’s parents and son Swaym will also be present for the occasion.”
Himesh had last year been granted divorce from Komal, his wife of 20 years. Their decision to separate was described as amicable by Himesh. The news of their separation first came to light in September 2016 when they filed for divorce.
Last year, Komal had said nobody was responsible for their separation, clarifying her stance on rumours that Sonia may have been a reason behind it. “Himesh and I completely respect each other and are jointly going ahead with this decision to part ways. But, mutual respect will always be there for us as I am a part of his family and will always be, and the same stands for him towards my family. There are compatibility issues in our marriage but we respect each other immensely,” she had said then.
“Mutual respect is the most important thing in life. Giving due respect to our relationship, Komal and I have decided to part ways amicably,” Himesh had said at that time.
