'Mandir nahi banega!', reads DU bus stop in counter to St Stephens' chapel vandalism
Tuesday, May 8, 2018 IST

In an alleged rebuttal to a right-wing agenda ridden attack on Delhi University's St Stephens' College, a bus stop near Hindu College was found painted with 'Mandir nahi banega, college yahin rahega. Smash autonomy' (Temple will not be built here, college will remain here.)

This comes two days after the chapel door and a cross in St Stephens' College were marred, allegedly by some right-wing elements.

The chapel door was found disgraced with slogan 'mandir yahin banega' (temple will be built here) and the cross had 'I am going to hell' written on it with an Om symbol painted next to it.
According to reports, the Delhi Police have not received any complaint regarding the graffiti on the bus stop board.

Meanwhile, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) is up in arms against this act of vandalism in the college.

"Both the slogans show the utterly disgusting mentality of the person or persons involved in such defacement of structures inside the college premises from where great nobles souls have stepped out and made their own mark in India's history," their statement read.

The statement further read, "They (accused) have tried to polarise the student community on the basis of religion and fake nationalism several times but have failed on every attempt. They will fail again."
