Nicotine takes about 48 to 72 hours to leave the system. This is quite bad news for those trying to minimize their cravings. But, enter cream of tartar. This compound is a byproduct of wine and is prized as one of the most effective compounds to pull nicotine from the body. Amazingly, a week of cream of tartar treatment costs about one quarter the cost of a Nicorette pack.

You are not a smoker? Cream of tartar could still do wonders for your health.  Read on to learn more about it and its benefits.

What Is Cream Of Tartar?
Cream of tartar, or technically known as potassium hydrogen tartrate, is sediment which comes from the bottom of a wine barrel. And, it is not alcoholic!  Here is what it can do for you:

Quit Smoking
Not only it pulls nicotine from your body, but cream of tartar also makes you dislike the taste of cigarettes.  For those trying to quit smoking, cream of tartar works best when combined with orange juice- specifically the not from concentrate kind.

Orange juice restores the body`s vitamin C levels, which suffers due to the chemicals in cigarettes.  Vitamin C, in turn, helps you flush nicotine.

According to one source, people managed to quit smoking by drinking a medium glass of orange juice with half a teaspoon of cream of tartar every night for a month.

Reduce Arthritis Pain
100 grams of cream of tartar contains 2mg of magnesium, a compound which “modulates cellular events involved in inflammation.”

It is recommended to mix two tablespoons of cream of tartar with three tablespoons of Epsom salt to create a bath. Soak for half an hour twice a day.

Relieve Urinary Tract Infection
According to EverydayRoots.com, cream of tartar relieves urinary tract infections by changing urine’s pH levels. This creates an environment which destroys bacteria responsible for the infection.

Get one and a half teaspoons of cream of tartar and combine it with a cup of warm water. Then, add a few drops of lemon juice. Drink once or twice daily.

Clear Acne
Cream of tartar has acidic properties which make it a great acne-fighting agent for the skin. Don’t apply it directly to the face, but mix a teaspoon of cream of tartar and 8 ounces of water or orange juice. Drink this on a regular basis to remove the toxins and bacteria responsible for your acne.

Reduce Blood Pressure
A shortage of potassium increases the chance of developing high blood pressure problems. Amazingly, 100 g of cream of tartar contains staggering 16,500 milligrams of potassium.

If you suffer from hypertension, start by checking your potassium levels and test for potassium deficiency. If so, take a teaspoon of cream of tartar and combine it with a glass of water. Drink nightly.
