New DDA scheme offers over 1,000 Vasant Kunj flats

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority is set to launch its housing scheme for 2019 which will offer 10,370 flats for sale, including over 1,000 three- and two-bedroom flats in Vasant Kunj. The scheme was cleared on Monday.

For the first time, the housing scheme would be completely online, beginning with the process of application, followed by payments, and then the return of money. “We had both online and manual application processes in our previous schemes, but this time all transactions would be online,” said a senior DDA official.

Among the units on offer are 448 three-bedroom HIG flats in Vasant Kunj — expected to cost between Rs 1.5 and 2 crore — and 579 two-bedroom MIG flats in the same locality at an expected cost of Rs 50 lakh to 75 lakh.

The final launch date is not yet finalised but DDA will start advertising the scheme from the first week of March. “The process would be completed before the election code of conduct comes into effect,” the official said.

Most of the flats — 8,383 — on offer are one-bedroom LIG flats, located in Narela and Vasant Kunj. The LIG flats are expected to cost around Rs 25 lakh. “We are still working on the costing and the final cost would be fixed soon,” an official said. There are also 960 flats for the economically weaker sections on offer at Pocket V, Block-A, Sector G-7/G8, Narela.

“These flats are under construction and only the work of water supply and sewage treatment plant is likely to be completed by July 2019,” a DDA spokesperson said.

On Monday, the authority also decided to waive 50% of maintenance charges of 10,748 LIG flats allotted in housing schemes 2014 and 2017 at Dwarka, Rohini, Narela, Siraspur and Ramgarh Colony. Allottees of these flats have been protesting against the small size of flats allotted to them.

It has also been proposed that DDA may permit allottees of one-bedroom flats at Narela G-2 and G-8, Rohini sectors 34 and 35, Ramgarh Colony and Siraspur to apply for adjacent vacant one-bedroom flats with a permission to amalgamate the two units. However, this benefit will be applicable to only those allottees who have adjacent flats that are vacant and available.

“In order to provide relief to the economically weaker sections, DDA has considerably reduced the cost of its EWS flats under the new scheme by allowing waiver of departmental charges and interest during construction period,” a DDA spokesperson said. “It will reduce the cost by a minimum of Rs 2.5 lakh per flat. DDA has further slashed recovery of one-time maintenance charges by 50%,” he said.
