Welcome To New York trailer: Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha, Karan Johar’s confused event of the year

Welcome to New York trailer has the cast meeting Boman Irani, Sushant Singh Rajput and Rana Daggubati. Expect lame situational jokes on MS Dhoni and Baahubali.

The trailer of multi-starrer Welcome To New York has been released and it seems to be about a big Bollywood event hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Karan Johar. But that’s not all, because Karan Johar will be seen in a double role and the other character will go by the name Arjun. Karan-Arjun? Got the drift? It’s about an unlikely couple, Hero (Diljit Dosanjh) and Jeenal Patel (Sonakshi Sinha). While Diljit is a sloppy recovery agent, Sonakshi is a fashion designer. Somehow, they become a part of a big Bollywood event that is to take place in New York. There they meet people like Boman Irani, Sushant Singh Rajput and Rana Daggubati. And when these actors are there, lame situational jokes on MS Dhoni and Baahubali are definitely expected. So, Sushant is confused for MS Dhoni and Rana says Jai Mahismati and forced background score begs us to laugh. As if that’s not enough, Karan Johar tries to crack jokes on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Bombay Velvet. How self obsessed is that? Directed by Chakri Toleti, Welcome To New York has many big names to boast of, but the trailer lacks the spark we associate with quirky films. Welcome To New York is set to hit the screens on February 23, 2018.
