Former Roadies director slams the makers, says ‘Backstabbing, bad language and abusive anchors were never a part of the format’

The recent episode of Neha Dhupia’s statement on ‘cheating in relationship’ has created a stir nationwide. Many celebrities came to Neha’s support on social media. However, recently Nivedith Alva, director of season 1 of the reality show took to Twitter to criticise the show’s format. He says that it has deviated from its original purpose, which was envisioned by his brother Nikhil Alva. The show’s format was to inspire the Indian youth.

In a series of tweets Nivedith slammed the makers and the current format. He wrote, “The MTV Roadies format was created by my brother Nikhil Alva @njalva and was meant to be a show that inspired & united the youth of India to do good and get involved with nation building. It sickens me to see what has been done to the Roadies format over time. Backstabbing, bad language, abusive anchors, violence and in-your-face-sexuality were never a part of the format. The show has degenerated over time to the point where it is an embarrassment to brand MTV & to any advertiser associated with it. In the end, these young participants have to go back into the real world. It is worth considering the long term damage being done to them, for ratings.”

Here are the tweets:

Roadies was earlier anchored by twin brothers Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman. It is currently helmed by Rannvijay Singha as Mahaguru, Nikhil Chinapa, Neha Dhupia, Prince Narula, Raftaar and Sandeep Singh as leaders. It is currently in its 17th edition.
