RBI dispels rumours over Rs 10 coins, says they are legal and valid

Dissipating disarray, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Sunday said the old Rs 10 coins were still legitimate as legal tender alongside the more current Rs 10 coins without the rupee image.

A week ago bits of gossip were doing the rounds, to a great extent in spots, for example, Delhi, Noida, UP, Bihar and Kolkata, that the RBI had announced the old Rs 10 coin invalid. Because of this, numerous businesspeople, brokers, auto drivers, and different traders quit tolerating the coins.

"As coins stay available for use for longer periods, it is very conceivable that coins of various outlines and even shapes are circling in the meantime… Both of them are legitimate delicate and similarly useful for exchanges, however they may look somewhat changed," the RBI illuminated on Sunday.
