Income Tax dept raids Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Rama Mohana Rao's residence in Chennai
New Delhi/Chennai: Tax department is conducting a raid at Tamil Nadu's Chief Secretary Rama Mohana Rao's residence on Wednesday.
I-T sleuths achieved Rao's living arrangement in Anna Nagar at around 5:30 am and started examinations. Rao is the senior most government employee of the state government.
According to media reports, the assaults are regarding his asserted connections sand mining baron Babu Sekar Reddy. The attacks on him post demonestisation had yielded Rs 130 crore in real money and 117 kg of gold.
Reddy is an individual from the leading group of trustees that directs the Tirupati sanctuary.
Rama Mohana Rao was designated as Chief Secretary in June 2016 and holds the extra charge of watchfulness magistrate and official of authoritative changes.
He had before served as central secretary to previous CM J Jayalalithaa.
Rao is planned to resign in September 2017.
