IPL 2019 squads: Retentions and releases

Two of the biggest retentions ahead of the Indian Premier League 2019, are those of the banned duo of Steve Smith and David Warner by their respective franchises, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The pair, who were due to captain the franchises in 2018, missed out on the edition due to a year-long ban imposed on them by Cricket Australia for their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal earlier in the year. However, the pair will make a comeback in the upcoming season for their franchises, but whether or not they will retain the leadership role is yet to be known.
