No PUBG mobile phone: Mumbai boy reportedly commits suicide after being denied new mobile for playing PUBG

PUBG Addiction has become a rage in India in regards to its affects on kids and teenagers and now, it has been claimed that a Mumbai boy committed suicide after he was denied a phone for playing PUBG Mobile.

PUBG Addiction has become one of the most debatable topics in India right now and some of the recent developments regarding Indian authorities being very skeptical about the popularity of PUBG among teenagers and kids include Gujarat government issuing a notice to ban students from playing PUBG in primary schools while an 11-year-old from Maharashtra also submitted a plea in the Bombay High Court seeking a ban on the game.

Now, in a recent report, it has been claimed that a Mumbai boy has reportedly committed suicide after he was denied a phone on which he can play PUBG Mobile, which is essentially free on both Google Play Store for Android and Apple App Store for iOS devices. According to a report by ANI, an 18-year-old boy from Kurla's Nehru Nagar area in Mumbai committed suicide after his family members denied buying an Rs. 37,000 worth of smartphone on which he wanted to play PUBG Mobile.

The report further adds that the family was ready to buy him a smartphone worth Rs. 20,000 and not more than that and after the family refused his demands, the Mumbai boy committed suicide by hanging himself after having a heated argument with his family members.

Feeling distraught, the teenager then took a rope and allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in the kitchen of his residence. A case of accidental death has been registered by the police and further investigation in the matter is underway.

PUBG or 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' is an online multiplayer game where about 100 players fight it out in free for all combat where the sole survivor emerges victorious. There have been calls to ban the game as it is "addictive" and has been linked to poor results of students in exams.

Recently, an 11-year-old student filed a plea through his mother requesting the Mumbai High Court to ban PUBG as it "promotes violence, aggression, and cyber-bullying".
