Ekta Kapoor's Logic on How to Deal With Rising Fuel Prices is Very, Very Confusing
Friday, May 25, 2018 IST
Ekta Kapoor

In 3 Idiots' professor's voice-- Arrey kehna kya chahte ho

Film producer Ekta Kapoor has struck again. Just like Mihir Virani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Kapoor, who recently faced the wrath of social media when she mocked the Swedish YouTuber Pewdiepie, gave her views on the rocketing fuel prices in the country.

The only problem here being, her take has left many pulling their hair out.

Kapoor was present at the music launch of her upcoming movie Veere Di Wedding with the cast when she was questioned about the fuel hike.

To which she responded by saying this:

"Even if petrol prices are at its highest, men will take women for drives & in today's time, women will take men for drives. This isn't the movie that you're going to stop watching as at this time you need to spend less on driving & more in theatre."

Now let us try to decode what she said.

1) "Even if petrol prices are at its highest, men will take women for drives & in today's time, women will take men for drives."

Although this isn't even relevant to what she was asked, okay. We give it to her for her progressiveness. Hashtag Equality.

2) "This isn't the movie that you're going to stop watching as at this time you need to spend less on driving & more in theatre."

Ummm what? What is she trying to say? Let us decode it together.

> Her movie Veere Di Wedding is so good, you will watch it over and over again and end up driving less? But to watch it again, won't you have to... drive again?

> Her movie Veere Di Wedding is so good, you will book tickets for the next show, and the show after that and never go home? Thus save up on the precious fuel money?

> If say, the audience is on a movie marathon because the movie is so bloody good, who will pay for the popcorn? Let's be practical. A tub of cheese popcorn costs as much as a movie ticket. More popcorn = burning fuel savings.

> Is she trying to indicate that by watching the movie the problem of price rise of fuel will self-combust?

> Is she hinting at releasing the movie directly on the online streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon so we poor folks don't have to drive to a theatre?

> Is she promoting Uber pool instead of her movie?

> Has she teamed up with Elon Musk to get Teslas in India?
