Throwback Thursday: When Raghu accused Ayushmann Khurrana of being fake during Roadies audition in 2004

For this week’s Throwback Thuraday, we have dug out a clip of Ayushmann Khurrana’s audition for the second season of MTV Roadies, the show he eventually won. Watch him getting grilled by main judge Raghu.

Almost every Bollywood aficiando knows Ayushmann Khurrana was a participant in the second season of the popular reality show, MTV Roadies. In fact, he went on to become the winner. The actor’s audition for the show was as interesting as it can get. The 20-year-old lanky boy, wearing a sky-blue shirt and a pair of nerdy glasses, was far cry from the Ayushmann we see today. “Dost banana meri khoobi hi nahi, mera pesha bhi hai,” he had said in his intro.

A short video clip of the audition is hugely popular on social media and very often, lands up on your feed. In the video, one can see how the main judge Raghu, being his usual self, is a bit harsh on Ayushmann. He immediately accuses Ayushmann of being fake and when he defends himself by saying, “Ab actor hoon toh...,” Raghu cuts him short and tells him straightforwardly, “I am not interested in your acting!” One also gets to see Ayushmann’s charming smile in the audition, which is very much the same even even 15 years later.

Below, watch the audition:

Ayushmann, who is currently busy with the shooting of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, has been going through a phenomenal phase in his career. In the last three years, he has delivered back-to-back box-office hits in the form of Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Badhaai Ho, AndhaDhun, Article 15 and Dream Girl. For his portrayal of a blind pianist in AndhaDhun, he was even named the Best Actor at the National Film Awards 2019.
