It’s a good idea to buy the older Apple MacBook Air, iPad Pro right now; here’s why

Now is the best time to buy the older Apple MacBook Air and iPad Pro variants, especially with festive discounts on Flipkart, Amazon etc. We compared prices with 2018 variants

Apple MacBook Air has got an upgrade, so has the iPad Pro. At a special event in New York on October 30, Apple launched its new MacBook Air with an edge-to-edge display, Touch ID and more. The iPad Pro gets Face ID as well as a bezel-less screen. Of course, updates mean the devices are more expensive than their predecessors and in this case the difference is almost double.

This makes it one of the best times to buy the older MacBook Air and iPad Pro, especially with festive discounts on Flipkart, Amazon etc. Though Apple has not officially announced the older MacBook Air and iPad Pro will be discontinued, chances are stocks will not be available. To help you make a better purchase decision, we have compared prices of the older MacBook Air and iPad Pro:

Apple MacBook Air vs MacBook Air 2018: Price in India

Apple MacBook Air 2018 has a starting price of Rs 1,14,900 for 128GB storage and Rs 1,34,900 for 256GB SSD models respectively. The next-generation laptop will likely not get discounts anytime soon.

The older MacBook Air’s (128GB) official price in India is Rs 84,900 though one can buy it for as low as Rs 62,990 from Flipkart, which is the official seller for Apple in India. Amazon has the same price. Do note that the sites are not hosting any sale currently. So for those willing to wait, chances are, the laptop will be available for even a lower price of around Rs 55,000 during Big Diwali sale on Flipkart that starts November 1.

The MacBook Air with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM variant is the 2017 model and will easily last three years or more for users.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch vs iPad Pro 12.9-inch: Price in India

Apple’s new 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi model has a starting price of Rs 89,900 for 64GB storage. The 256GB and 512GB storage models will cost Rs 1,03,900 and Rs 1,21,900 respectively. Apple has increased the storage capacity to 1TB this year with the higher-end model priced at Rs 1,57,900.

The WiFi+Cellular model with 64GB storage will cost Rs 1,03,900, while the 256GB storage variant gets a price tag of Rs 1,17,900. The 512GB and 1TB storage models are priced at Rs 1,35,900 and Rs 1,71,900 respectively.

The older 12.9-inch iPad Pro India pricing starts at Rs 65,900 for the 64GB Wi-Fi model, though it is listed for Rs 63,500 on Flipkart. Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro 256GB and 512GB WiFi variants official prices are Rs 73,900 and Rs 89,900 respectively. The Wi-Fi+Cellular models cost Rs 76,900 (64GB), Rs 84,900 (256GB), and Rs 1,00,900 (512GB).

The older iPad Pro might have the older A10X processor, but that does not mean the device will be slow. The older iPad Pro is still an excellent tablet choice for those who need one and do not wish to spend close to Rs 89,900 or higher for the newer device. Unless you really require the new Apple Pencil and all the powerful AR capabilities of the new iPad Pro, the older version is still a good pick.

Apple iPad Pro 11-inch vs iPad Pro 10.5-inch: Price in India

Apple’s new iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi model is priced at Rs 71,900 for 64GB storage model. The 256GB and 1TB storage models will cost Rs 85,900 and Rs 1,03,900 respectively, while 1TB storage variant has an official price of Rs 1,39,900. The Wi-Fi+Cellular model with 64GB storage is priced at Rs 85,900, while 256GB storage model has a price-tag of Rs 99,900. The 512GB and 1TB storage variants cost Rs 1,17,900 and Rs 1,53,900 respectively.

Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch Wi-Fi model with 64GB official price is 57,000, though this is listed on Flipkart for a price of Rs 49,999. On Amazon, the tablet model is currently listed for Rs 50,800. The official price of 256GB storage variant is Rs 71,900 and it is listed on the e-commerce site for Rs 63,500. Finally, the 512GB storage will cost Rs 89,900, though it can be bought for as low as Rs 72,998 on Amazon and Rs 78,990 on Flipkart respectively.

The Wi-Fi+Cellular models start at a price of Rs 69,900 for 64GB storage model and go up to Rs 1,01,900 for 512GB storage variant. The 256GB storage variant will cost Rs 83,900. These are official prices. Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch with 512GB storage model is listed on Flipkart for Rs 84,500.

At Rs 49,999, the older iPad is still a good bet for those looking to buy a tablet for all their daily needs. Yes it might not be as powerful as the newer variants that have launched in the market, but the iPad has never been a pushover when it comes to performance.
