The kind of lifestyle we live today, heart problems have become more common in youngsters. Major heart related issues are now common place in people in their 20s. While lifestyle is one reason, other reason is the food habits. But all is not lost.

You can take up yoga for healthy heart, chest and lungs.  Yoga is a preventive measure which will keep your heart healthy and the best part is that it doesn't come with any side effects. 
 
Yoga and its benefits for your heart: 
 
Besides wisdom and philosophy yoga is a relaxing combination of asanas, breathing techniques and deep meditation. Every yoga pose has its own benefits and it deeply helps in respiratory system therefore it benefits the heart too.

There are specific asanas in yoga for heart problems. The are 20 yoga asanas which can be practised at home. This article will lead you to a few asanas then gradually leading to postures that require more strength and stamina. 
 
Mountain pose (Tadasana):
 
The mountain pose helps in strengthening the body and the vertebral column. It involves deep breathing which helps our lungs and heart to function better.
 

Tree Pose (Vrikshasana): 
 
The tree yoga pose helps in developing a firm and correct posture. It broadens your shoulders and opens the heart, making one feel confident and at peace. 
 

Extended hands and feet pose (Utthita Hastapadasana):
 

This yoga posture require your focus and the strength to create balance. It helps to control weight and improving heart health. 
 
Triangle pose (Trikonasana)
 

Trikonasana is a heart posture, standing yoga postures designed to promote cardiovascular exercise. The chest expands as breathing becomes deep and rhythmical. It helps in increasing the stamina of the body.
 
Warrior Pose (virabhadrasana): 
 
This pose improves the balance in the body and helps in building the stamina. This also helps in stabilizing blood circulation and relieves stress. It keeps the heart rate in check. 
 
Chair pose (Utkatasana)

Cat pose (Marjariasana):

Downward facing dog pose (Adho Mukho svanasana):

Bow pose (dhanurasana):

Bridge pose (setu bandhasana):

Half shoulder stand pose (Salamba Sarvangasana):

Sitting half spinal twist pose (Ardha matsyendrasana):

Two legged forward bend pose (paschimottanasana):
