Asteroid Alert: Earth Will

Space group B612’s President Danica Remy has claimed that the risk to Earth from asteroids is very small in the short-term but inevitable in the long-term. “It’s 100 per cent certain that we’re going to get hit, but we’re not 100 per cent certain when.”

These days you must be hearing lot about asteroids. Asteroids (space rocks) are small, rocky objects that orbit the Sun. Although asteroids orbit the Sun like planets, they are much smaller than planets. You must be aware that asteroids, if hit Earth, can bring massive destruction to our planet and also to human life. The effects of an asteroid strike including tsunamis, shock waves and flattening winds, could be catastrophic. Asteroids can approach towards the Earth due to the gravitational forces that affect them. It is said that Earth will reach to its end one day and one of the possible reason for this could be an asteroid. And now, an asteroid expert has claimed it is inevitable a devastating collision between Earth and a space rock will happen in the future.

According to an exclusive report published by NBC, Space group B612’s President Danica Remy has claimed that the risk to Earth from asteroids is very small in the short-term but inevitable in the long-term. “It’s 100 per cent certain that we’re going to get hit, but we’re not 100 per cent certain when,” NBC quoted her as saying. Remy also claimed for the first time in human history that there is now the technology to help solve the problem.

Named as an asteroid 2006 QQ23, the Eifell Tower sized space rock zip past Earth at the start of August, travelling at a speed of over 10,000mph. Fortunately, the space rock missed the planet by 4.6million miles. The more realistic danger comes from space rocks the size of 2006 QQ23, which could flatten an entire city, killing millions and causing widespread destruction in the event of a direct hit.

Remy also said, “The kind of devastation that we’d be looking at is more of at a regional level than a planetary level, but it’s still going to have global impact — on transportation, networking, climate, weather.”

B612 was set up in the year 2002. B612 is an organisation leading global efforts to protect Earth from the potential impact of asteroids. The original goal of the B612 is to advocate for and see that an asteroid demonstration deflection mission was implemented.
