Burger King forced to apologise over offensive World Cup ad mocking Russian women

The Russian division of Burger King offered lifetime supply of free burgers to Russian women if they get pregnant by World Cup players.
The Russian division of global fast food chain Burger King apologised for an advertisement that offered lifetime supply of free burgers and USD 47,000 for Russian women if they get pregnant by World Cup players.
The announcement was removed Tuesday from Burger King’s social media accounts after many users rebuked it as tasteless and sexist. According to The Associated Press, Burger King promised a reward of lifetime supply of burgers to women who get “the best football genes” and “ensure the success of the Russian team for generations to come.”
Burger King’s statement:
“We apologize for the statement we made. It turned out to be too insulting.
We thank you for the feedback and hasten to inform you that we have already removed all materials related to the application.”
In a statement on Wednesday to The Associated Press, Burger King said, “We are sorry about the clearly offensive promotion that the team in Russia launched online.” It said the offer “does not reflect our brand or our values and we are taking steps to ensure this type of activity does not happen again.”
