ICJ stays Kulbhushan Jadhav's death sentence awarded by Pakistan military

Delhi: The International Court of Justice on Tuesday remained the hanging of resigned Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, sentenced to death by a military court in Pakistan.

The request by the Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) came a day after India moved toward it against capital punishment passed on to Jadhav by Pakistan's Field General Court Martial a month ago.

India, in its interest to the ICJ, blamed Pakistan for "grievous" infringement of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and affirmed that Jadhav was seized from Iran where he was included in business exercises in the wake of resigning from the Indian Navy, however, Pakistan guaranteed to have captured him from Balochistan on March 3, 2016.


Taking after India's allure, the ICJ remained Jadhav's execution.

Tweeting about the advancement, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj stated, "I have addressed the mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav and educated her concerning the request of the president, ICJ under workmanship 74 section 4 of principles of court."

Pakistan guarantees its security forces had captured Jadhav from the fretful Balochistan area on March 3 a year ago after he apparently entered from Iran. It additionally guaranteed that he was "a serving officer in the Indian Navy."

The Pakistan Army had additionally discharged a "confession booth video" of Jadhav after his capture.

On April 25, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Gopal Baglay had said that administration was yet to get a duplicate of any charge sheet against Jadhav and did not know who had guarded him in the military court that sentenced him capital punishment.
