NASA Pic Shows Us What Earth Would Look Like If All Oceans Dried And It

When we see images of Earth from space, we see a big blue planet, with some brown terrain. This is our home, the only planet we can survive on.

We’ve also studied in our schooling years that our planet mostly comprises of water. However, have you ever thought of what would happen if these oceans would dry up? NASA has.

NASA has created an interesting simulation that gives us an idea of what our Earth would look like if the ocean levels would lower around 50 metres. The simulations reveal a considerable change in the way countries look with new land surfacing.

The simulation showed Australia and Papua New Guinea becoming one island. Even Indonesia, Vietnam and Philipines fuse to become one huge mass of land.

In case you ever thought if one could travel from the US to Europe by road, if the water went down by a kilometre, that would become possible.

This simulation gives an idea of how our ancestors travelled in the past, as once upon a time, the water levels were more than 400 feet below than what level they’re at right now. Extra land helped them cross lands that today seem impossible.

As the NASA simulation kept on reducing water levels, larger mountain ranges from under the water surfaced. And by the time scientists reached around 6 kilometres or 6000 metres, they saw most of the oceans and seas disappearing.

In case you were wondering if the dept of the sea was only this much, you’d be astonished to know, that in order to see the deepest point of Earth, the sea levels would have to go down another 5000 metres or 5 kilometres.

Check out the entire simulation below.
