Malegaon blast : Colonel Purohit granted bail by Supreme Court after 9 years jail

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to Lieutenant Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit, a denounced in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, putting aside the past request of Bombay High Court.

The bail has been allowed subject to specific conditions, said the top court.

On August 17, Colonel Purohit told had the top court that he was been gotten in "political crossfire" and was moping in prison for a long time without even charges being encircled against him.

Remarking on the advancement, previous ATS chief KP Raghuvanshi stated:

Prior, Purohit acknowledged that he met Abhinav Bharat, a conservative association whose individuals were blamed for planning in the Malegaon impact, yet passed on the data of the meeting to his senior officers about gathering's exercises.

"My client has got himself got in the political crossfire. He has been in prison for a long time yet at the same time he is serving in the Indian Army. Since 2001, he has various suggestions for invasion.
